Primary Responsibilities:
Responsible for the overall development and supervision of the AAAN's Family Empowerment Program (FEP), including comprehensive social services, case management, public aid benefits, education and outreach, immigration services, English Language (EL) and Citizenship, Family Literacy Project, and the Family Violence Intervention and Prevention Program (FVIPP).
Provide some direct services and case management for FVIPP, public aid benefits, and other social services clients.
Develop, organize, implement, and provide overall management for Domestic Violence prevention activities, including educational workshops, other community education, communications and media work, and the establishment of community collaborations.
Network and collaborate with other groups and coalitions servicing immigrant and low-income communities.
Recruit and train volunteers for the program.
Supervise and coordinate community outreach to publicize program and recruit participants. Work with EL / Literacy Instructor on organizing classes in the community and developing curriculum.
Responsible for all reporting requirements to the board of directors and funders.
Attend relevant meetings, including some committee and coalition meetings, and the AAAN all staff, coordinators', and board meetings.
Assist with development and expansion of program, including researching and writing grant proposals; and support other AAAN special events, including the annual fundraiser.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field, and at least three years working in the field.
Bi-lingual in Arabic and English required.
Experience with, and knowledge of, Arab and Muslim community in the U.S.
Strong organizational, supervisory, and management skills a plus.
Knowledge of social services case management and domestic violence prevention / intervention activities.
Experience in program evaluation methodology and implementation.
Knowledge in developing curriculum and workshop / training materials.
Knowledge and skill in using Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
Clear written and verbal communication skills essential (please include a writing sample).

Algerian Biometric Passport IMPORTANT NOTICE
The Embassy of Algeria informs the Algerian community living in the United States that the deadline for delivery of passports in their current format, initially scheduled for March 31, has been postponed until November 24, 2010.
All Algerian citizens whose passports expire earlier than September 30, 2010, should take advantage of this opportunity to apply for extension or renewal of their passports, making sure to follow the instructions posted to that effect on the Embassy website (www.algeria-us.org).
1000 Scholarships Worldwide for Moroccan Students
The Consul General of Morocco in New York informs the Moroccan community residing in the USA that a partnership agreement has been signed between the Ministry in charge of the Moroccan Community Residing Abroad and the Ministry of National Education, Higher Education, Professional Training and Scientific Research.
1000 scholarships for the upcoming academic year, have been granted to Moroccan students residing abroad, to enable them to pursue their undergraduate, Master's or PhDs.
Moroccan students interested in applying for the above mentioned scholarships should either mail or present their applications by April 25, 2010, to the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Morocco in New York.
