Database/Research Assistant
IMAN is community organization that works for social justice, delivers a range of direct
services, and cultivates the arts in urban communities. The Database/Research Assistant is responsible for maintaining consistent and accurate data for all IMAN key constituents including donors, prospective donors, funders, event attendees, volunteers, community activists, and board members. The incumbent also has responsibility for identifying, researching, and tracking potential grant sources for IMAN's direct services, organizing, and arts and culture programming. The Database/Research Assistant will work closely with IMAN staff to collect constituent data and provide research data for their program areas.
The Database/Research Assistant reports to the Administration Director. Within the
policies set by the Board of Directors, the position has the following responsibilities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES
Work with IMAN consultants and staff to setup custom fields and codes in GiftWorks to ensure data integrity and easy output of necessary data for reports.
Compile, import, export, and enter data to the Giftworks database.
Make recommendations and maintain documentation on data organization, policies and procedures, and coding structures.
Work with all staff to ensure that data entry guidelines are followed and all spreadsheets are set up with field names and clean data to allow ease of importing or exporting into GiftWorks or other database systems
Develop queries to retrieve data in various formats as needed by staff.
Research grant databases and websites to identify, and assess potential fit of, funding sources for IMAN's direct services, organizing and arts and culture programs.
Compile data and ancillary materials to support grant proposal submissions.
Work with staff in all departments to plan for future funding research and database management needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Proficiency in all MS Office applications and relational databases
Prior experience with GiftWorks or other fundraising relational databases highly desired.
Experience in performing data import and export and generating reports from queries.
Proven administrative and research skills and extraordinary attention to detail and process
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
